About Us
St. John the Evangelist Parish is located in the beautiful village of Spring Green, Wisconsin, surrounded by hills and valleys.
The parish has a membership of about 500 families. Our parish supports a Catholic Grade School (Gr. 4K-5) as well as a Religious Education Program (Gr.1-11). We are about 40 miles northwest of Madison, Wisconsin, and are happy to be part of the River Valley area. Our Church building was erected after the old Church was destroyed by fire in 1988. Our Tabernacle, the lamb carving on the wooden altar, the stained glass in the greeting area and above the Tabernacle were from the old Church and incorporated into the present building designed by William Wesley Peters of Taliesin Architects. The icons were written by David Giffey, a local Spring Green artist. St. John's, St. Luke's, St. Patrick's and St. Boniface
St. John's is linked with St. Luke's Parish in Plain, St. Patrick's in Loreto and St. Boniface in Lime Ridge. We share programs and staff members. Father Luke Syse is the pastor, and Fr. Kumud Nayak is the Parochial Vicar. St. Luke's also has a Catholic Grade School (Gr. 4K-8). Students graduating from 5th grade at St. John's School are encouraged and welcome to continue on at St. Luke's for grades 6-8. |
